RIDE DAY 1 MONDAY 12TH MAY.
BONNIE SPRINGS MOTEL TO ZION
LODGE NATIONAL PARK
Prior to leaving the Bonnie Springs
Bill brought out the Holy water that his Mother Ida had provided to bless the
bikes. Ida has always done this and although none of us including Bill are
particularly religious, we are all too superstitious to oppose the ritual. As we
rode out of the motel Bill sprinkled each bike as it passed. We set out at 08:30
and rode 12 miles to the Red Rock Casino for breakfast, Bonnie Springs
restaurant dosen't open until 09:00 on a Monday and we were keen to get moving.
Following breakfast we took the interstate to Mesquite where we refuelled.
Following the fuel stop we headed for the Harley dealership at Zion.
Harley dealerships are great
places to wander round, but we were there because Greg had arranged for a new
front tyre to be fitted, this worked out quite nicely because there was a
restaurant that had opened its doors for the first time that day and we went
there for a light lunch.
Following lunch we headed for
Zion National Park, we were pre-booked into the lodge which sits in side the
magnificent Zion canyon, we arrived at the lodge in time to follow a couple of the trails up into
the canyon before dinner.
Both the Bonnie Springs and the
Zion Lodge had no internet access so the update is being done at the Ruby Inn at
Bryce canyon see Day 2.
