RIDE DAY 4 THURSDAY 15TH MAY.
INCA INN MOAB TO FAR VIEW
LODGE MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK
We left Moab after spending a
couple of great hours in the Arches National Park, The day started well but
after a short time we started to gain altitude as we headed for Telluride
a very pretty Ski Resort in Colorado. it should be noted that prior to the ride
we were expecting desert temperatures. The email advising everyone
to bring warm clothes unfortunately went out after we had left the
UK. It became very cold and then very wet, in fact we rode through
heavy cloud and then snow just before our lunch stop
at Telleuride Ski Resort. Brenda and I had packed clothing for the desert, and
we have had to buy some extra warm clothes. Brenda is now called 2 jackets
because she is not only wearing both Harley jackets that Henry and I bought on the 2006
ride but also 2 pairs of jeans! The roads have been fabulous and the twisty ride up
through the Mesa Verde National park to the Far view lodge
was terrific, a shame it wasn't warm as well. The Far View lodge was as its
name suggests is at the highest point in the park. The main lodge building boasts
spectacular views across the valley and the cabins are spread around a large
circular road, all the cabins have balconies overlooking the park. We had a
great dinner in the Lodge, Brenda and I both had Buffalo steaks, when in Rome
etc.
